Church Collections

The number of church collections has been increasing in recent years. As the number attending church and the number contributing continue to decrease, the burden has fallen on fewer and fewer people. It is a tremendous testimony to that faithful group of people that the yearly contributions to all of the collections have held up, and in some cases, increased. Of course, we are there for people, but it is understandable that we would like people to show some level of appreciation by contributing to the parish and to the support of the priests. The recent collection for the education of our seminarians is a most worthy cause. It now costs about €25,000 per year for each student. Thank God, we have three students in formation. Please, pray for them. Envelopes for this collection are available in the church. You are welcome to take one home and return it to the parish office during the week. Thank you for your continuing generosity.

Prayers

Pope Francis’ Prayer to Our Lady
O Mary,
You shine continuously on our journey
as a sign of salvation and hope.
We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick,
who, at the foot of the cross,
were united with Jesus’ suffering,
and persevered in your faith.
“Protectress of the Roman people”,
you know our needs,
and we know that you will provide,
so that, as at Cana in Galilee,
joy and celebration may return
after this time of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love,
to conform ourselves to the will of the Father
and to do what Jesus tells us.
For he took upon himself our suffering,
and burdened himself with our sorrows
to bring us, through the cross,
to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.
We fly to your protection, O Holy Mother of God;
Do not despise our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always
from every danger, O Glorious and Blessed Virgin.
