Ministries & Volunteering

Readers (Ministers of the Word):

Readers are an important part of the celebration of mass. The Reader(s) normally read(s) the following;

  • Parish Announcements (before mass)
  • First Reading
  • Responsorial Psalm
  • Second Reading
  • Gospel Acclamation

St. Mary’s is currently looking for new Readers to read at weekday and weekend masses.

Altar Servers:

Altar servers consist of both boys and girls in Primary schools and are usually from about third class to sixth class. As the name suggests, Altar servers serve the Altar during mass. We would like to thank all the boys and girls who are Altar servers for St. Mary’s and we welcome new Altar servers. If your son or daughter would like to be an Altar server, please contact the Parish Office at: parishofficedungarvan@gmail.com or phone 058-42374

Ministers of the Eucharist:

Ministers of the Eucharist assist the Priest in the distribution of the Holy Eucharist (Communion) to the congregation.

Eucharistic Adoration:

Choir:

St. Mary’s Parish Choir was established in 1828. The Choir is directed by Lena Walsh and is comprised of Sopranos, Altos, Tenors and Basses, along with our Organist Darragh Kiely. We would love if more people could join our Choir and you don’t need to be able to read music! If you are interested in singing with us, please contact the Parish Office at: parishofficedungarvan@gmail.com or phone 058-42374

Collectors/Distributors:

All Parishes require money. Collectors collect the money baskets/bags in St. Mary’s, week-in-week-out. Without them the weekly collections would not be taken up at weekend masses and other holy days. Envelope distributors also distribute the annual boxes of envelopes and parish calendars to the various houses in the Parish.
